Swedish VS Deep Tissue Pressure is NOT the difference...
Swedish Massage is performed with the client, undressed to his or her comfort, draped, on the table. Applying oil, with gliding strokes, medium to deep pressure. Swedish massage is designed to relax the body and mind. This is done in 60 or 90 minute sessions.
Deep Tissue is a combination of pinpoint and broad strokes and other techniques to release tension and adhesions in the deep muscle layers. It is designed to relieve musculoskeletal pain, the pressure can vary from light to deep and it may be uncomfortable at times, but not painful.
PreNatal- is Swedish massage performed on pregnant women. They undress to their comfort and lay on their side for the session. This is done in 60 minute sessions.
Medical Massage- treating a condition/ injury using a prescription (not currently processing insurance)
Conditions/Injuries I am seen for: Low back pain, sciatica, thoracic outlet syndrome, carpal tunnel syndrome, slouched posture, pre and post surgery.
Clinical (results without a prescription)/ Orthopedic massage is done with minimal undressing, applying little to no oil, with pressure that is effective but within the clients comfort. It focuses on rehabilitation of injured/ or tight/short soft tissues of the body and pain management. Postural Assessments and Range of Motion tests are done to determine muscle shortness/ tightness in the body and questions are asked to pinpoint exactly where the pain is. This is done in 60 or 90 minute sessions.
Hot Stone Therapy is Swedish massage performed with hot stones. This is done in a 90 minute session.
